He also attended and was granted full athletic (soccer) scholarships to The George Washington University and to Drake University (NCAA Division 1). He has experience training professional hockey and football players, and is currently training many amateur, NCAA, Olympic and professional soccer, hockey, baseball, and basketball players in the Toronto area. Mr. Berenhaut also works with Bryst International Soccer Academy as the Goalkeeper and Speed Development Coach and was Co-Captain of the Canadian Maccabi Games Soccer Team competing in Israel in July, 2005. In addition he was also a part of the U-20 Canadian National team that won CONCACAF in 1996.

Dr. Spina holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from McMaster University. He later graduated with summa cum Laude and clinic honors from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic and subsequently completed the two-year post-graduate fellowship in sports sciencesM. Following his graduation Dr. Spina created, and became the head instructor of the Functional Anatomy Seminar series which are a popular educational seminar series offered at to Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Medical Doctors, Massage therapists, etc. He has also authored chapters in sports medicine textbooks, is a published researcher, and international speaker. Although he is very experienced in treating professional, Olympic, and amateur athletes of various sports disciplines, Dr. Spina takes special interest in the management of athletes from combat sports as he is an experienced mixed martial artist himself with over 21 years experience.

Chiropractor,Graston Technique Toronto Dr. Howitt holds an Honors Baccalaureate degree in Physical Education from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters degree in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph. He graduated from Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and has since completed a two-year post-graduate residency in Sport Sciences, a three-year post-graduate program in Rehabilitative Sciences, and a two-year course in acupuncture. Dr. Howitt has been a member of the core medical team for the Canada Summer Games, as well as numerous professional, Olympic and amateur sports including rugby, soccer, bobsled/skeleton and triathlon. He has had the privilege to travel both nationally and internationally for bobsled/skeleton, triathlon and soccer events.

He has created content for sports medicine courseware, has published numerous research papers, and is a prominent lecturer for undergraduate and post-graduate sports medicine, rehabilitation, nutrition and fitness.

Dr. Howitt began his sports injuries career as a student therapist at the University of Western Ontario where he looked after the Varsity rugby team. He still continues his university athletic involvement as the Varsity chiropractor for the University of York, where he works in the Gorman Shore Clinic, and by hosting 4th year athletic therapy students in their clinical placements at Sports Performance Centres

Toronto Sports Medicine Doctor Dr. Jason W. Su is our in house Sport Medicine Specialist at SPC Vaughan. He has extensive experience with athletes and non-athletes in their various conditions and injuries. Dr. Su also does consulting work for various National/Professional teams, governing sport bodies, and governmental agencies (eg. Department of Defense, Ontario Athletics Commission as ring/cage side physician, RCMP), private and publicly traded corporations. He is also involved in cutting edge clinical trials of potential new diagnostic tools and treatments on the horizon. Because Dr. Su is a M.D. licensed in Ontario, all essential medical services are covered under the provincial Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for those that have valid provincial health insurance in Ontario. Dr. Chivers has traveled throughout Canada as the team doctor for a variety of elite amateur and professional soccer clubs. He has also worked with national and provincial martial artists, elite triathletes and golfers. As the team doctor for Team Ontario Baseball, he has a special interest in working with and developing elite amateur pitchers in helping them get to the next level. Dr. Chivers also has published papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.

 

Paul Shin

Physiotherapist TorontoPaul holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy, a Master of Science degree and a Certificate in a Collaborative Program in Neuroscience, all from the University of Toronto. He has attained CAFCI certification at the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute and is certified in the Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) needling technique. He has also completed his Intermediate Certificate of Manual & Manipulative Therapy is currently working towards his Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy.

Paul has experience working with both the weekend warrior and elite athlete alike. He uses a variety of techniques including spinal mobilization, spinal stabilization exercises, neural tissue mobilization, postural taping, myofascial release, acupuncture and IMS to help his clients reach their full potential. Paul is an avid athlete himself and plays 6-man/9-man volleyball and hockey all year round. His proudest accomplishment to date is helping his new baby girl explore her new world.

 

Nicole Sullivan

Nicole brings a strong background in athletic training, injury prevention, research, and a passion for health promotion. Also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Nicole enjoys integrating alternative practices such as acupuncture with manual therapy, therapeutic taping, exercise, and high performance training. A huge fan and advocate of yoga, pilates, and strength training as well as a successful multi-sport athlete and leader Nicole can relate to all aspects of health and wellness. Her uncanny knowledge of professional sports and random facts makes for good conversations, and her positive attitude and commitment to enriching the lives of other keeps her grounded and eager to learn from all that surround her.

Contemporary Medical Acupuncturist Toronto Dr. Izraelski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from York University. He has since graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2010 and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science at York University in conjunction with the Sports Science Residency Program through the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada).

In addition to his chiropractic education, he has completed training in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture through McMaster University and in Active Release Techniques. Dr. Izraelski is an avid recreational athlete and fitness enthusiast with a particular interest in hockey and endurance sports.

Dr. Izraelski has worked with a variety of athletes including volleyball, soccer and hockey players as well as a number of triathletes, all at the amateur and recreational levels. He is currently the Team Doctor for the North York Rangers Jr. A hockey team.

 

Dr. Jason Porr

Certified Exercise Physiologist Toronto Dr. Porr holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa. He later graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) as a Doctor of Chiropractic. He is currently enrolled in a two-year postgraduate sport sciences residency program at CMCC. His research interest surrounds the role of spinal manipulation in the activation of the lumbar musculature in low back pain patients. Jason is currently the team doctor for the Markham Waxer's Junior A hockey team and has been a medical service provider for triathletes, cyclists, volleyball, wrestling, taekwondo and Crossfit athletes. Jason is an avid volleyball player, cyclist, skier and also participates in Crossfit.

Sean holds an Advanced Diploma in Fitness and Lifestyle Management Program from George Brown College. In addition, Sean is a Certified through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Consultant.
Sean has experience working with athletes from the Markham Rep Baseball organization, lacrosse teams and high school track and field athletes in the GTA. Sean has a wealth of experience as personal trainer and Fitness Consultant working with the City of Vaughan, where he specializes in goal setting and motivational strategies to help individuals meet their individual goals.
As a competitive baseball player Sean played with the Ontario Maple Leafs Elite baseball team, as well as with the George Brown Huskies baseball/volleyball teams. His experience as a high performance athlete gives him insight to better understand the mental and physical standards and requirements needed to excel at the elite levels.

 

Atila Balaban

Certified Personal Trainer Toronto Atila is an Exercise Physiologist specializing in Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the U of T and a Master of Science in Exercise and Health Science from York University. His research at York focused on mitochondrial adaptations to endurance exercise (Hood, D. A. et al, 1994 - Canadian Journal of Applied Physiology 19:(1) 12-48).While at York University, Atila also worked as a Research Assistant to Dr. O. Bock who developed experiments for the Neurolab, used in NASA's Space Shuttle program, and for the International Space Station.

He has extensive background in the fitness field including: personal training; fitness club management; corporate fitness; and adult education instruction for Seneca College in the Fitness Leadership Program. Over the past 18 years, his focus has been rehabilitation and his experience includes: cardiac rehabilitation; orthopaedic rehabilitation/exercise therapy; being Clinic Director of a multi-disciplinary rehab clinic; and performing FCEs. During this time, he has performed more than 800 FCEs.

He has been qualified as an expert witness in Functional Capacity Evaluations and has given expert testimony in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. He has also given testimony at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) Arbitration Hearings and CPP Tribunal Hearings.

Atila continues to pursue his interest in resistance training and is an avid canoe tripper traveling through Algonquin and Killarney provincial parks with his son and daughter.

Mental Performance Consultant Josh holds a Bachelor of Arts, honours in Psychology, from the University of Guelph and a Master of Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa. Josh is a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and a sport psychology service provider through Sport Centre Ontario. He works with national, provincial and amateur athletes from a wide range of sports to improve performance. Josh uses a combination of mental skills training, biofeedback and neurofeedback to help his clients achieve their goals in sport and life.

 

Andrew Wadhwa

Physiotherapist As a Masters graduate in Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland (2008) of Queensland, Australia, Andrew had the chance to practice/work on some of Australia's up and coming athletes while also collaborating with some well known Manual Physiotherapists from the Physiotherapy world. Andrew has always been a helping hand to the elite athlete even before his venture into Physio while serving for a period as the head athletic trainer for the University of Waterloo Men's Varsity Soccer team while he completed his Honours Kinesiology Degree also at Waterloo. Andrew looks forward to furthering his manual skills by working his way up through the various specialized levels of the Manual Physiotherapy world. As an avid athlete Andrew is no stranger to the sports world enjoying many different sports activities including but not limited to: Rock Climbing, Road/Mountain Cycling, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Golf & Snowboarding. Andrew is an extremely positive person and this is always clearly on display whether on or off the job with everyone around him. Andrew is always looking to towards new and challenging experiences so that he can bring his best to help everyone he comes into contact with.
